After losing the toss the newly appointed captain of the Army Dev XI was inserted into bat on a glorious day in Aldershot. After a decent start to the innings the Army found themselves 51 for 2 fm 9 overs building a decent platform to attack from in the later overs. Batting with flair and confidence the skipper was moving in on much deserved 50 until he holed out on 49 leaving the Army in a good place at 96 for 4. However 96 for 4 turned into 96 for 6 in just 4 balls from being a good platform to push 150 the boys had to work hard for the runs and eventually ended up 129 for 9 with Connor Bowden scoring a valuable 16 in the last 2 overs. He continued to have a good day when he got the ball in his hands taking 2 wickets in the first 3 overs of the innings reducing the fire service to 3 for 2 with some good aggressive bowling from Joe Cornelius at the other end. At the half point the Army had restricted the fire service to just 42 for the loss of 5 wkts but it could have been so much better if 2 chances had not been put down from the impressive Bowden. All that said the fielding was excellent and the Army ran out winners by 30 runs. A great start to the season with plenty of new faces.
