After a rain delayed start and play reduced to 25 Overs, the Army Ladies went out with a smile on their faces ready to play a much-anticipated game against the MCC. With a win for the Army the year before the MCC were ready to prove a point. Army won the toss and elected to field. With three consecutive wickets in a short time the Army were on form with Ros brown taking 2-16 in her five overs. But then entered Garton and Adcock who quickly built a strong partnership, each reaching their 50 in good time. With Gabi Clark helping to keep the run rate down at the back end of the innings the MCC Finished on 153-4.
The Army had an excellent start with Mel Vaggers and Amada Potgieter getting off to a flying start, building a strong partnership of 60. However, the crucial wickets of Vaggers, shortly followed by Potgieter, as a result of some consistent bowling from Bellemy, proved fatal and the Army line up began to falter. With a sterling last effort from Sarah Streete the Army finished on 108-9 after their 25 overs. With the MCC winning by 45 runs.
The Army go into the next match against Cambridge University in two weeks and then Oxford, in preparation for the 40 Over Inter-Services competition at the end of June.
