After a great win the week before against the RAF Dev the Lions just did not perform. After winning the toss again and electing to bat defending 144 was always going to be a struggle. Wickets fell at all to regular intervals with a 3 wicket partnership of 38 between the two infantry batsmen Hurn and Blackburn being the highlight. The newly appointed captain Lester hit a quick fire 31 in the middle of the innings before the Lions were bowled out for 144 inside 44 overs.
Apart from success with the very first ball of the innings, which ripped out the off stump, the Lions luck did not change with the ball. Schofield bowled well without much luck 1 for 8 from 6 overs backed up by the skipper who took 1 for 8 from 4 overs. The Royal Navy batted sensibly and always looked in full control losing only 4 wkts with a massive 19 overs to spare to earn a rare, but well deserved, victory.
Next up for the lions is the Civil Service in Barnstaple on July 12th.
